Our Pee-wee Karate program caters for children aged 5 - 12 years of age. The programs' focus is on building a good moral character while developing effective self defence skills.
In each class children are taken through a traditional Karate warm up, which encompasses stretching, co-ordination, balance, strength and fitness drills. Following this the practice of essential basic Karate techniques takes place, along with Kata (pattern or form) training. The remainder of each class is entirely different from session to session as the instructors maintain variety for the children. A range of fun practices from self defence, controlled free sparring, stranger danger training, avoidance methods and more takes place during this time.
Unlike most martial arts schools, our children's programs do not take a militaristic approach to classes. There is a mutual respect built between students and their instructors. Children are also asked questions to test their knowledge and are encouraged to ask questions to improve their understanding.
Grading tests along with training camps are our focus for children, over competition fighting. Our aim is to develop the children to place a higher priority on improving themselves, rather than trying to be better than others all the time. One tournament is held each year for our members under the flag of friendship and goodwill so they can help each other develop in this completely optional event. Grading examinations are held 2-3 times per year at your local Dojo, so there is no need to travel away for tests.
Children also have the opportunity to participate in training camps in both Australia and around the globe, learning directly from some of the world's most senior masters who are more than willing to give their time to the needs of our children.
All of our Pee-wee classes are instructed by fully qualified and Internationally recognised Black belt instructors. All of whom are first aid qualified, have passed working with vulnerable persons checks, are fully insured and are licenced by AOGKF as traditional Karate instructors.
We pride ourselves on making the children laugh in every session and having them leave our centre feeling confident and with a smile on their faces.
We offer FREE no strings attached trial offers for all newcomers at each of our centres. Contact us today to begin your Karate jounrey and meet your Sensei.
TESTIMONIALS
I enrolled my three children with the Canberra Karate centres over 10 years ago. Now as teenagers they are still training and the focus Karate has given them has definitely made High School much easier for them to manage.
- Robyn S. - mother of three.
When my son joined the Pee-wee program he was very shy, lacked confidence and was very anxious. After six months of training with Sensei, he is a totally person. I cannot thank Sensei and the team at the traditional Karate centres enough for the positive change I have seen in my son.
- Craig T. - happy parent.
I tried several other martial arts clubs in Canberra before we visited the traditional Karate Centres. Their flyer said experience the difference of traditional martial arts and we really did! From the moment we walked in the door you can feel there is something special about the place. We never looked back and love going with our kids.
- June H. - Tried other schools & chose ours.
